Service Philosophy

Mission Statement

The mission of the New Haven Community Library is to provide free access to Library
materials, resources, programs, and services for people of all ages for their personal enrichment,
self-education, and leisure, and to promote a sense of community.

Governance

The New Haven Community Library is a self governing 501(C)(3) organization incorporated
under the laws of the state of Vermont. The Library meets the Minimum Standards for Vermont
Public Libraries. The five Library Trustees are elected at Town Meeting.

Service Priorities

In order to carry out its mission, the New Haven Community Library has set forth specific
priorities:

  1. The Library will serve the community as a center of reliable information by providing and maintaining a current collection of books and materials that will meet the educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of all in the community.
  2. The Library will provide the community with access to the Internet.
  3. The Library will serve as a community center for persons of all ages in the community.
  4. The Library will cooperate with other organizations, agencies, and institutions in an effort to provide exciting and innovative programs and services to meet community needs.
